The hotel is centrally located on Haidplatz in Regensburg's old town. It is easily accessible by car (car parks nearby) or public transport (approx. 15 minutes' walk from the main railway station; approx. 1 minute's walk from the Haidplatz bus stop). The nearest international airports are Nuremberg and Munich, each about 100 kilometers from Regensburg.
How do I get to the hotel by car?
The hotel is located in Regensburg's pedestrian zone – however, access is permitted for hotel guests. As navigation systems are often unreliable in this area, we recommend: Enter "Bismarckplatz, Regensburg" and follow our directions from there:
Bismarckplatz → Gesandtenstraße → turn left at Fotohaus Zacharias into Rote-Hahnen-Gasse → turn right at the end of the lane onto Haidplatz.
The hotel is located in the red and grey patrician house; the main entrance is in the grey building. You may stop directly in front of the hotel for 10–15 minutes to unload your luggage. Please note: A green environmental badge (Umweltplakette) is required to enter the old town.

Within walking distance are, among others, the Old Town Hall (150 meters), the Schottenportal (250 meters), Regensburg Cathedral (500 meters), the Stone Bridge, the Museum of Bavarian History, and the Collegiate Church of the Old Chapel (each about 550 meters away), as well as the Golf Museum (550 meters) and Stadtamhof (600 meters). The Historic Sausage Kitchen (Historische Wurstkuchl) and the Dachshund Museum are also just a short walk away.

Yes, luggage storage and excursion information are available. The hotel does not organise its own shuttle service, but the Regensburg Old Town Bus departs directly from Haidplatz and takes you to the train station. Use of the Regensburg Old Town Bus is free of charge. Our reception team will also be happy to call a taxi for you.

What are the reception opening hours?
The reception desk is open Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. In summer, there is an additional night service, so the reception desk is staffed 24 hours a day. Outside of reception hours, the self-check-in kiosk is also available around the clock.
When can I check in and out?
Check-in is possible from 3 p.m. and check-out until 11 a.m.

Can I check in outside of reception hours?
Yes, a self-check-in kiosk—available in both German and English—is located in the entrance area (specifically in the vestibule just past the first entrance door) and operates around the clock. Before arrival, a QR code containing all booking details is sent via email, allowing for a convenient, wait-free check-in at any time; alternatively, guests can simply enter their booking number (starting with "BK") and their surname. The kiosk also allows for a new room card to be programmed quickly and easily should the original be lost or if a guest accidentally locks themselves out.
What happens if I check out later than agreed?
If the rooms are not vacated by 11:00 a.m., the hotel may charge a fee of up to 50 percent of the daily rate for the additional use, or up to 90 percent in the event of a significantly later departure.
History
Is the building of the Altstadthotel Arch historic?
Yes, the hotel is located in a 12th-century patrician house with a rich history. Renovations have always been carried out in keeping with the historic character and listed status of the building.

What is the history of the hotel building?
The name "Arch" likely derives from a term meaning "riverbank reinforcement against erosion," as noted in the 1872 Bavarian dictionary; another theory suggests that the building's ship-like shape, when viewed from the west, is reminiscent of Noah's Ark.
The building complex consists of several wings with triangular floor plans. The oldest sections—the western building at the corner of Rote-Hahnen-Gasse and the western section of the north wing facing Haidplatz—date back to the early 14th century; the original eastern and southern sections served as stables and storage buildings.
Initial alterations took place during the Late Gothic period; Renaissance-style arcades were added to the inner courtyard; the main staircase leading to the upper floors was built during the Baroque era; and major structural changes, particularly to the ground-floor openings, were carried out in 1863. A fountain niche in the courtyard bears the date 1657. The breakfast room preserves a Gothic ribbed vault from the original chapel, which was dedicated to Saint Lawrence.
The building is situated on the south side of Haidplatz, a medieval market and tournament square. In 1419, the owner at the time, Stephan Notangst, established the *Bruderhaus* Foundation to support destitute craftsmen; the foundation merged with another in 1445 and served as a residence for the elderly until 2004.
Although the "Arch" is located some distance from the Danube, the Vitusbach stream once flowed from the south along Rote-Hahnen-Gasse; its original course remains visible today in the curve of the lane and the alignment of the houses leading to Haidplatz. Also recorded is the historical occupation of the *Archer*, who looked after the banks of a flowing body of water and ensured that no refuse accumulated there.

Maxim's Fine Wine Bar & Tapas is located on the ground floor of the Altstadthotel Arch; it serves as a breakfast room during the day and as a wine and tapas bar in the evening.
Is breakfast included, and how much does it cost?
Depending on the rate booked, the breakfast buffet is included in the room price. For hotel guests, the price is €20 per person, including coffee beverages. Non-guests may also have breakfast for €22 per person (coffee included); reservations are required on weekends. When in breakfast being served?
Our breakfast buffet is available Monday to Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. On weekends and public holidays, you can enjoy a relaxed breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Are there vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free options for breakfast?
Yes, the breakfast buffet offers vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. The buffet also includes fresh bread rolls, fruit, and a variety of beverages, as well as specialty coffees from the local roastery Torreo Kaffeerösterei in Regensburg.

How many rooms does the hotel have and how are they furnished?
The hotel offers approximately 89 rooms across nine categories: Superior Double Rooms (22–24 m²), Deluxe Double Rooms (24 m²), Double Rooms (21 m²), Family Rooms (35 m²; for 3–4 people), Family Suites (42 m²; with two separate bedrooms for up to 4 people), Junior Suites (41 m²; with separate living and sleeping areas), Suites (60 m²; with separate bedroom and living area), Single Rooms (16 m²), and Twin Rooms (20 m²; with two separate single beds).
Amenities include free Wi-Fi, a flat-screen TV, a desk, modern bathrooms, and—in some cases—air conditioning. Minibars or small refrigerators can be rented upon request at reception for €15 per night.
What services are included in the room price?
Accommodation, WiFi and all taxes and fees are always included. Depending on the rate booked, our extensive breakfast buffet is also included. There is no visitor's tax in Regensburg.
Are there family rooms?
Yes, there are spacious family rooms and superior family rooms that can accommodate up to 4 people.
Are the rooms air-conditioned?
Some of the rooms are equipped with air conditioning. Rooms that do not have air conditioning are equipped with a fan in summer.
Do the rooms have a balcony?
Our rooms do not have balconies. However, many rooms overlook Haidplatz square, offering a fantastic view of Regensburg city centre. If you have any special room requests, please let us know when booking – we will do our best to accommodate your wishes, subject to availability and circumstances.
Are there accessible rooms or a lift in the hotel?
The Altstadthotel Arch has a lift. Some rooms are not wheelchair accessible, so please let us know your individual needs when booking. The family rooms are accessible only via a staircase.
Are hairdryers available in the rooms?
Yes, every room is equipped with a hairdryer.
What should I do if I lose my room card or lock myself out?
A lost room card can be replaced at the self-check-in kiosk using the booking number (starting with "BK") and your surname; the kiosk also assists if you are locked out.
May I bring my own food and drinks into the room?
The rooms are provided exclusively for accommodation purposes; bringing one's own food and beverages is generally not permitted. Exceptions are possible only upon consultation with the hotel and subject to payment of the standard service charges or a corkage fee.
Is smoking allowed in the rooms?
A general smoking ban applies throughout the hotel, including in guest rooms, corridors, and stairwells. In the event of a violation, a flat-rate fee of €250 will be charged to cover cleaning and renovation costs, in addition to any costs incurred due to a triggered fire alarm, such as fire department deployment charges.
